Order Fulfillment Manager - Position Open Immediately
About the Farm:
Bloomcourt Farm, established in 2021, is a woman-owned, specialty cut flower farm in Chappaqua, NY. Our flowers are sold wholesale to florists and limited grocery accounts, and through a year-round CSA program. We use intensive, minimal till, organic techniques on 1 acre of land. Bloomcourt Farm grows over 25 varieties of specialty cut flowers, including tulips, ranunculus, poppies, stock, lisianthus, bearded iris, peonies, heirloom mums, and dahlias.
Location. Bloomcourt Farm is located at 348 Whippoorwill Road, Chappaqua NY. There is ample parking on site.
Schedule. The work schedule is 8 hours per day, either Sunday- Thursday or Monday- Friday, with some flexibility on start time. This includes a 30 min paid lunch break and other breaks as needed throughout the day. This role is on-farm with the opportunity to work from home one day every other week.
The manager’s primary tasks will include:
● Working as the last person to touch our flowers prior to their sales outlet. Processing & conditioning flowers to ensure designer quality. You get to be part of the very end of our crops' lives on the farm, ensuring they look beautiful for our customers.
● Designing and preparing CSA Subscriber bouquets.
● Designing and preparing grocery account bouquets.
● Packing items for wholesale orders (counting out, bunching, wrapping, and checking off the items as you go, to fulfill wholesale orders and prepare the flowers for delivery.
● Communicating with wholesale accounts about substitutions for their orders.
● Keeping inventory of our cut flowers available for sale in the walk-in cooler.
● Delegating harvest tasks for orders - advising the farm manager or other field crew which flowers still need to be cut for orders that week.
● Communicating clearly with the farm team about supply needs and stem quality
● Maintaining and cleaning the coolers, ensuring to keep a clean and tidy workspace. This will include regular mopping of the cooler floors, washing buckets, and sweeping daily
● Performing a weekly cooler refresh, tracking shrinkage and sharing other notes on flower storage and quality
● Labeling buckets to ensure deliveries are clear for the delivery driver
● Getting the van loaded with the delivery driver on tuesday and thursday mornings

● Making the delivery route for the delivery driver twice per week based on the designers’ schedules
● Communicating with and being available to the delivery driver on the day of delivery to troubleshoot
● Creating and communicating SOPs that make the team more efficient
● From December - March, when the farm fields are quiet, the fulfillment manager will be responsible for growing, harvesting, and packing hydroponically forced tulips in a heated greenhouse alongside farm owner, Madeline Wachtel
Ideal background and skills include:
● A love for flowers!
● 1+ years of farming or floristry experience, preferably with some knowledge of cut flower production and/or flower processing
● The ability to name flower varietals, preferably with some knowledge of flowers (how they should look, feel etc)
● Previous experience in floral design is preferred
● Excellent communication skills
● Ability to work well both independently and as a team
● Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
● A capable problem solver
● Excellent work ethic and positive attitude
● The ability and willingness to work in all kinds of weather
● Applicants must have a valid driver’s license.
● Be in strong physical condition with the ability to perform repetitive tasks such as heavy lifting, grasping, standing, bending, squatting and walking on unsteady ground.
● Curious and committed to developing skills
● Willingness to commit to the farm for the full year, ideally more
Salary and benefits:
● $55-58,000 per annum based on experience
● 10 days of paid time off per annum. Up to 2 weeks of additional leave without pay is negotiable.
